Children’s Independence Day Parade

The  Atlanta area Chamber of Commerce  is going to launch a new event this year, the Children’s Independence Day Parade on July 6th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. It will be a mini-parade (with an altered and shortened route) consisting of bikes, tricycles, wagons, battery-operated cars, pets and more. This will probably be one of the most adorable things that’s ever happened to the Atlanta Area, so make sure your kids, grand kids, and fur kids don’t miss out! We’ve created an event on facebook where you can download the registration forms (it’s free).

Landing Zone School to be held

There will be a Landing Zone School May 18, 2013 10am to 12 noon at the Marietta MCA lunchroom sponsored by Douglassville and Marietta Volunteer fire departments and first responders. All fire departments and first responders are welcome-contact Chuck Ham at 903-835-3200 or Jon Ward at 903-835-5021 by May 11. Food will be served. The public is invited as long as children are accompanied by parents. Helicopters will land around 8:30am.

Eastern Cass County School Retirees Association to meet

Eastern Cass County School Retirees Association will meet on Tuesday, May 14th at First Baptist Church Queen City Fellowship Hall at 10:00 a.m. for Registration, coffee and social time. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m.The J. K. Hileman Elementary students will present a musical program. Scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from Atlanta, Queen City, Bloomburg, and McLeod. Parents and family members of all students participating in the programs are encouraged to attend. Members of ECCSRA are encouraged to bring a gift .Tickets will be sold and anyone attending will have a chance to win them.Call Carolyn Lance @ 903-796-8776 for more information.

Cass County’s Peace Officers Memorial

There will a dedication of the Cass County Peace Officer’s Memorial Wednesday May 15 at 10 am at the Cass County Law Enforcement and Justice Center. The center is located at 608 Hwy 8 North in Linden.  The Memorial marker is to insure we never forget those who had given their lives to protect the citizens of Texas. The public is invited to attend
