Joe Scott, age 80, of Atlanta, Texas, left this life, Saturday, June 03, 2017, in a Texarkana, Texas hospital with his daughter by his side.
Joe was born, March 11, 1937 in Atlanta, Texas to W.E. and Jeff Scott. He attended Atlanta High School, graduating in 1955 and then went to Arlington State University on a football scholarship. Joe returned to East Texas in 1957 and attended Texarkana College and joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, being a member for 60 years. He was employed as a commercial electrician, and worked on projects including DFW airport and nuclear plants. He was also owner of Big Cypress Shopping Center in Karnack for ten years. Joe was known as a daredevil, enjoying racing boats, flying planes, and having 60 jumps as a skydiver. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Natalie Bivins Scott and husband Gavi Colaleo of Austin, Texas and Tucson, Arizona; a brother, Mike Scott and wife Martha Scott of Atlanta, Texas; grandson, Joe Bivins Colaleo of Austin, Texas and Tucson, Arizona; nephew, Michael Scott of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; niece, Michele Hartline of Doddridge, Arkansas; and other relatives.
Memorial services will be 6:00 pm, Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at the Scott residence, 1521 FM 2328, Atlanta, Texas, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 7, 2017, from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm, at the Scott residence.
