Brenda “BB” Eason, 68, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
BB was born October 21, 1950, in Atlanta, Texas, to Patricia and James B. Smith. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from East Texas State University in Texarkana. She was retired from the Department of Defense, where she worked as an accountant at Red River Army Depot and later as an auditor at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport. BB was preceded in death by her father, James B. “Jimmy” Smith; grandparents, Reverend J.B. and Estelle Smith and Roy D. and Mattie Kate Frost Law.
BB loved nature, and you could find her in her flower beds any time of the day. She knew the names of all the plants, trees, animals and insects she encountered. She enjoyed spending her evenings stargazing and knew the names of all the constellations and their mythological origins. She is now walking with God in the sunshine of the gardens in Heaven.
She is survived by her loving husband, Walter “Dub” Eason of Linden; sons, James “Bo” Crook and wife Jody of Wellington, CO, Kerry Eason of Chicago, Il, and David Eason of New Boston; grandsons, Andrew Crook and Daniel Eason and wife Kaitlyn; great-granddaughter, Rory Linda Eason; mother, Patricia Law Smith of Bivins; sister, Karen Johnson and husband Jim of O’Farrell; brother James “Dandy” Smith and wife Penny of Bivins; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will miss her greatly.
Graveside services will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 12, 2019, in New Colony Cemetery under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service with Bro. Claude Crocker officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 12, 2019, from 9 am to 10 am at New Colony Baptist Church.
The family would like to extend deepest thanks to the Heritage Hospice nurses and staff, specifically Toni Henderson and Brittany Burbridge, as well as her caregiver, the late Lue Linwood. The love and care they provided to BB in her last months was above and beyond expectation.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Colony Cemetery Association or to the charity of your choice.
