How do we say goodbye?
Donald E. Coats, Sr. age 74, of Atlanta, Texas, went to his heavenly home, Saturday, April 20, 2019, after a short illness. He was a butcher by trade and past owner of Coats Processing.

Don was born October 17, 1944 in Atlanta, Texas, to Benjamin Wetzel and Eunice Coats Perritt. He was raised by his grandparents, E.G. and Daisy Coats. He had lots of friends and family that were very important to him, including cousins, kids, and grandkids, and he was the happiest when they were around him at his home. Donald was a Baptist by faith, a Master Mason, a member of a local coin club and the Kushman Scooter club. He was a member of the Atlanta Masonic Lodge and received his 50 year pin in 2016. It was his great joy that his son, and son in law followed in his steps, and became masons. He loved his tractors and farming, raising watermelons and green tomatoes. He sold his green relish to local restaurants and was known for giving away more watermelons than he sold. In his later years he taught himself to build and repair mantle clocks as well as watch the old classic television shows. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bruce Wetzel; and grandson, Cody Jackson.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha Cherry Coats of Atlanta, Texas; daughter, Diane Jackson and husband Briane of Atlanta, Texas; son, Don Coats, Jr. and wife Susan of Atlanta, Texas; brother, Dean Wetzel of Bismarck, North Dakota; six sisters, Jane Blizzard of Atlanta, Texas, Judy Combs of Dallas, Texas, Jerrie Russell of San Augustine, Texas, Beverly Gietzen of Bismark, North Dakota, Rosemary Hertz of Bismark, North Dakota , Diane Wetzel of Bismark, North Dakota; five grandchildren, Nolan Jackson, Amanda Jackson Britt, Steven Coats, Bradley Jackson, Breanne Jackson Brown; nine great grandchildren, Katelynn Farmer, Allie Jackson, Gary Coats, Brooklynn Holland, Brody Jackson, Memphis Hoskins, Kathryn Coats, Addison Jackson, Olivia Jackson; one on the way; and a number cousins, nephews, nieces, and other relatives.

We don’t know how to say goodbye, so we will just say until we meet again… He will be greatly missed
