Penny Lynn (Witbeck) Harville was born in Brigham City Utah, April 17, 1962. She passed from this life at her Rodessa Louisiana home, January 31, 2023. She was 60 years old.
Penny is preceded in death by her parents Jack Terry Witbeck and Arla (Phelps) Witbeck; sister Sharon Rae Witbeck; and mother-in-law Mary Merlyn Harville. She is survived by her devoted husband Daniel Paul Harville of Rodessa LA; brothers Jack Terry Witbeck Jr and wife Valeni of Cedar City UT, and Martin Dee Witbeck and wife Cindy of Wentzille MO; sisters Linda Lee Rogers and husband Tom of Seymour IA, Bonnie Gay Duree and husband John of O’Fallon MO, Christine Marie Hendricks and husband Robert of Shreveport LA, Amy Sue Cathey and husband James of Lake St Louis MO, and Peggy Ann Witbeck of SLC UT; sisters-in-law Tracy R Lee and husband Michael of Queen City TX, Amma M “Sam” Hatten and husband Larry of Mt Vernon TX, and Christine D Turner and husband Ted of Dripping Springs TX; next door neighbors and father-in-law Danny L Harville and Cindi Kinslow of Rodessa LA; numerous nieces and nephews; and Sunshine the cat.
Penny served as a missionary in the Paris France Mission for 18 months. She enjoyed being a visiting, or ministering, teacher to her sisters in the gospel but her true calling and passion was singing and playing the piano and organ for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints around the world for almost fifty years culminating with two decades of service to the Queen City Ward located in Atlanta, TX, She also took great satisfaction for playing at the Baptist Church in Rodessa LA. She was an Alderwoman for the city of Rodessa LA and had a Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University. She was an actress, singer, musician, devoted wife, identical twin, and audioprosthologist. She had captivating summer blue eyes and flaming curly red hair. She was lovely and enjoyed playing the banjo and directing theater. She was described once as “being like technicolor in a black & white world”.
Penny’s burial services will be under the direction of Queen City Funeral Home. A visitation will be offered in her honor, Saturday, February 4, 2023, beginning at 12:00 PM (noon), at Queen City Funeral Home. Her funeral service will follow her visitation, commencing at 1:30 PM at Queen City Funeral Home. Penny will be interred at Slaughter Cemetery in Rodessa LA.
