Wanda Kemp Womack, age 93, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord, Sunday February 12, 2023, surrounded by her daughters. Wanda was born November 9, 1929, in Paris, Texas, to Chester and Margaret Kemp. She graduated from East Texas State Teacher’s College and upon returning to Paris met her spouse of 64 years, Max Womack. After moving to Atlanta, Wanda began her 27-year teaching career at Atlanta ISD, often gracing the teacher break room with piping hot pound cakes with a life expectancy of 7 ½ minutes. Upon retirement she spent her time enjoying her grandchildren and granddogs and loved to camp at Daisy, Arkansas, every summer with her family.
Wanda was a source of light and love. Every day she spent blessing others with baked goods, thoughtful gifts, encouraging phone calls, and her contagious smile. She never met a person that did not feel better after a few seconds in her presence.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Max Womack; her son, Bryan Womack; her sister, Mary Katherine Sales; and her parents. She is survived by two daughters, Margaret McWilliams and husband Marc of Longview, Texas, Diane Belyeu and husband Jeremy of Aledo, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Melissa Cain of Monticello, MS; eight grandchildren, Jon Womack and wife Emily, Jennifer Womack, Jackson Slaid, Matt McWilliams and wife Kelly, Macy McWilliams, Max Belyeu, Owen Belyeu and Sam Belyeu; three great-grandchildren, Reese McWilliams, Walker McWilliams, and Jonathan Womack; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 25, at Hanner Funeral Service, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service, with interment to follow at Queen City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm.
Wanda’s family would like to thank the many friends and family that assisted in her care in her later years including Community Healthcare of Texas.
In lieu of flowers Wanda would ask that an act of kindness be delivered today and every day!
