The Attorney General of Texas has filed a lawsuit against Booking Holdings Inc. for engaging in false, misleading, or deceptive acts and practices in violation of the state’s Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Booking operates websites including Booking.com, Priceline.com, and Kayak.com. The suit claims Booking falsely marketed hotel rooms at prices that were not available to the public as initially advertised and omitted mandatory fees from its advertised room rates, enticing consumers with artificially low room prices that were not available. The OAG has recently sued Hilton and Hyatt and reached settlements with Marriot and OMNI for similarly customers about the price of rooms through obscured fees and falsely marketed prices.
