A Bowie County Court has granted a $26.8 million judgment in favor of a plaintiff in a lawsuit against a Red Lick man who was convicted in May for continuous sexual abuse of a child and subsequently sentenced to a 30-year prison term. The court’s decision includes the following components: $650 designated for medical expenses, $42,900 allocated for future medical costs, $500,000 allotted for past physical pain and suffering, $500,000 designated for future physical pain and suffering, $5 million earmarked for past mental distress, and $5 million set aside for future mental anguish. Furthermore, the court has additionally granted the plaintiff $15.837 million in punitive damages.
