Jenell “Nell” Staggs, age 91, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord Friday, January
20, 2023, in a local adult care facility. Nell was born May 23, 1931, in Friendship,
Louisiana, to David and Hazel Hines. She was retired from the Titus County Sheriff’s
Office where she worked as a Dispatcher, Jailor, and Secretary; she was also a member of
Atlanta Methodist Church. She enjoyed supervising her husband as he worked in their
garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Staggs Jr.; sister, Betty Zane; and
her parents.
She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Harman of McLeod, Texas, Pamela
Graham of Atlanta, Texas; three sisters, Linda Jackson of Shreveport, Louisiana, Mary
Alice Peterson of Alexandria, Louisiana, JoAnn Phillips of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one
grandchild, Christian Morphew of Mena, Arkansas; and a number of other relatives and a
host of friends.
Private burial was held under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.
