Dekalb Texas Homicide

Press Release from Bowie County Sheriffs Office.

On 2-4-2023, the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting on County Road 4252 in Dekalb, TX. Deputies arrived to find a male individual had been shot multiple times. Life Net Ambulance Service transported the victim to St Michael’s Hospital; however, he died as a result of his injuries. The victim, identified as Demond Monta Easter of Dekalb, has been sent to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences at Dallas for an autopsy. Investigation revealed that the victim was at his home when he was shot during the course of an argument. He was shot and killed by Derrelexis Dewayne Betts of Dekalb, TX. Betts was arrested and booked into the Bi State Jail on the charge of Murder. His bond has not been set.
