On February 7, 2023, Betty Mae Burnette, passed away peacefully in the hospital surrounded by family. She was born to Dempsey and Lily Wilkinson in Shreveport, LA. She is survived by her sisters, Barbara “Jean” Stinson, Shirley Ragan, Frances Waters Wain, Joanne Haltom; her children Dennis Dubois, Kathy James (Tim), daughter-in-law Darlene Dubois; grandchildren Dennis Dubois II, Jason (Ashley) Dubois, Craig (Brandy) Nelms, Jennifer Dubois, Carrie Epperson, Gregory (Amanda) Hunt, Ali (Michael) Clayton, Sarah Ballentine, 19 great and 3 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and the father of her children Virgil (Dorothy) Trenado.

She was beloved by the town of Gilliam, LA where she held the position of Postmaster General; as well as owning and operating the B&B Grocery where she fed and cared for the town she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Helen Purifoy, Charles Wilkinson, Janice Sebren, and great grandson, Beau Brackman.

The family would like to extend special thanks to: Christus St. Michaels-Atlanta and Heritage Hospice.

There will be a memorial gathering Friday, February 10, from 12pm-2pm at New Hope Baptist Church in Bloomburg, TX.
