Linda Gale Duke Westmoreland went to her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 29, 2023.
Linda was born September 14, 1943 in Atlanta, Texas to Francis and Gerald Edward Duke. Linda was a part of a large family which included five siblings, who she loved dearly. In her youth she enjoyed riding horses, playing basketball, and graduated Valedictorian of Bloomberg High School. She had a successful career in Real Estate, a passion she shared with three of her siblings. She was well known to the town of Redwater, Texas, by greatly contributing to the growth of its community and finding perfect homes for many families. Many of the local children knew her and called her “Nona” because of her involvement at the school. Throughout the years Linda enjoyed socializing, reading, gardening, frequent runs to town, antiquing with her husband, and attending sporting events for her kids and grandkids. She was a loving wife, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
When Linda was 17, she met the love of her life, Waylon Westmoreland. They married shortly later on June 2, 1962. Linda and Waylon were happily married for 61 years and had four children: Keenya, Sid, Todd, and Jason.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Francis Duke Orea; father Edward Duke; sister Joyce Moore; brother Jimmy Duke; son Sidney Anthony Westmoreland; grandson Matthew Hon
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Waylon Westmoreland; Children: Daughter and son-in-law: Keenya and Ronnie Bell of Atlanta, Texas; sons: Stanley Jason Westmoreland, Patrick Todd Westmoreland; grandchildren: Zachary Hon, Keeley Bell (Sarah), Kaitlyn Bell Humphrey (Cody), Shea Westmoreland Yelvington (Tyler), Devon Eddie, Tymber Westmoreland; brother: Gerald Edward “Buddy” Duke (Barbara); Ten great-grandchildren; sister: Martha Curlee (Jerry); sister: Sherry Oyler (Dennis); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She will also be dearly missed by her family and friends at The Villa.
Funeral visitation will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, July 3, 2023 at the Hanner Funeral Home, services to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
