Jesse Lea Jones, 87, of Bright Star, Arkansas, passed away at his home at Bright Star on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, one day after his 87th birthday! He was surrounded by his loving wife, Pauline, and his beautiful children, Gareth and Kindall.
Jesse was born in Texarkana, Arkansas on July 25, 1936 to Albert and Clara Jones. He was the last surviving child of the nine children born to his parents. Jesse was the principal of Bright Star School from 1964 to 1984. He also served in the United States Army on active duty and the National Guard until his retirement in 1993. Jesse loved his family, friends, community and especially the children of the community, dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pauline Jones; son Gareth Jones and wife Robin; daughter Kindall Jones and husband Chris Beal; one very special grandson, Evan Jones; and a host of friends and other family.
Visitation will be 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Hanner Funeral Service.
Memorial services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, July 31, 2023 at Ida Methodist Church, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service, with Rev. Kendall Docter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to Baptist Kids.Org, Water Springs Ranch or the Alzheimer’s Association. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Doddridge Community Center following the memorial service.
