Marc Mote, Obit

Marc Sheppard Mote was born in Atlanta, Texas on December 8th, 1958 to Billy Jack and Mary Joyce Mote. He passed away August 23rd, 2023 at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas surrounded by family.

Marc graduated from Atlanta High School in 1977. He received an associate’s degree in Petroleum Technology from Kilgore College in 1979. Marc worked in the oil industry for several years, he loved working offshore but his dream was to become self-employed.  He loved restoring old trucks and working on engines. He bought a Texaco station in Atlanta, Texas and owned this station for several years. Marc worked for the over 35 years in the real estate business; with some of his business mentors being Henry King and Jay Clements.  He also was involved in the community serving as president of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, and the Texarkana Board of Realtors.   

Marc rededicated his life to the Lord in 1988 and he became involved in multiple ministries, including making numerous mission trips to Mexico, serving as a member of the Gideons, serving as a board member of Christ centered homes and the voice of encouragement ministries, a former youth leader, Sunday school teacher, church board member, and royal rangers leader.  He was a Christian who loved sharing his testimony. One of Marc’s spiritual mentors was Dr. James Hogan. 

As a young man, Marc spent much of his time hunting, fishing, water and snow skiing and restoring old trucks. He especially loved Caddo Lake.

Preceding Marc in death was his parents, bonus son Ethan Nunn, sister Rosemary Mote and father in law Larry Rhyne.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Gina Rhyne Mote, son Logan Mote; son Austin Mote and wife Amber; grandchildren Keely Weems, Kennedy Mote and Cash Mote; sister and brother in law Marsha and Barry Stanton, mother in law Joyce Rhyne; sisters in law Dana (John) Worrell and Christi Rhyne; nieces Carly (Nick) Mitchell, Adrienne Bailey, Sarah (Connor) Ver Schuur; great niece Sophia Stanton and great nephews Mason Bailey and Hudson Mitchell and numerous other relatives and friends.
