Sidney Westmoreland, Obit

Sidney Wayland Westmoreland went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 3, 2023. Sidney, 81, was born March 3, 1942 at home in Cass county to Glada and Thomas Lester Westmoreland. In his youth he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. He even danced on skates in his spare time. He also helped at his father’s store in his hometown of Bloomburg, TX. He coached his son’s and many others in the Dixie youth baseball for many years. He was always there to wrap a blanket around his daughter after she had marched in a cold Christmas parade. He was a lineman at SWEPCO for over 40 years. Throughout the years Sidney also enjoyed fishing with his sons and son-in-law, bowling, collecting coins, selling jewelry, scratching lottery tickets, searching estate sales for hidden treasures, attending sporting events for his kids and grandkids with his wife, and spending as much time as he could with his great grandchildren. He never left anyone without a good story.

Sidney fell in love with his sweetie, Linda Duke. They were married on June 2, 1962 and spent 61 wonderful years together.

He was proceeded in death by his beautiful wife, Linda Duke Westmoreland; son, Sidney A. Westmoreland; grandson, Matthew Hon; parents, Lester and Glada Westmoreland; and brother, Don Westmoreland.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Keenya and son-in-law Ronnie Bell; sons, Jason Westmoreland and Todd Westmoreland; daughter-in-law, Jerrie Lewis; grandchildren, Zachary Hon, Keeley Bell (Sarah), Kaitlyn Humphrey (Cody), Shea Yelvington (Tyler), Devin Eddy, Tymber Westmoreland; great grandchildren; Ethan, Zoey, Dayton, River, Kelton, Cooper, Colt, Merit, Maddax, Bode; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 at 1pm at the Hanner Funeral Service. Funeral service to follow at 2 pm. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Sidney Westmoreland’s name to M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Center.
