Yvonne Polson Clements, 85, of Atlanta, Texas, passed away on December 9, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie “Jack” Polson and Minnie Blanche Howard, her husband Robert Clements, and her sister Jacqueline Polson.
Yvonne graduated from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M Commerce), where she was an active member of Chi Omega Fraternity. It was there that she developed her lifelong love of music, and she went on to teach music for 15 years. After retiring from teaching, Yvonne became co-owner of Clements Oil Corporation in Atlanta, TX and Mansfield, LA.
Yvonne was passionate about music and furthering music education. She was an avid supporter of the Texarkana Symphony and in 2014, she was inducted into the Rayburn Society for her philanthropic support of the music program at Texas A&M University in Commerce. She was a member of Laws Chapel Methodist Church.
Yvonne is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann Clements of New York, NY, one sister-in-law, and a number nieces and nephews who she adored. She was also blessed to be surrounded by many dear and loving friends.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Pine Crest Cemetery, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service with Pastor Mike Akin officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hanner Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Music Program at Texas A&M University Commerce or to the charity of your choice.
