Michael Neal Rainey, age 77, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the Retreat at Kenwood, Texarkana, Texas. Mike was born August 20, 1946, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Robert and Anice Rainey. He was retired from Shell Chemical Company; served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War; and was Assembly of God by faith. Mike enjoyed spending time hunting, and fishing and was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shanna Boone; grandson, Andrew Chavez; sisters, Ginger Smith and Bobbie Salisbury; and his parents.
He is survived by his children, Joan Avant and husband John Martin of Atlanta, Texas, Joey Talbert and wife LaCresia of Hughes Springs, Texas, John Doland Avant of Mount Vernon, Alabama; sister, Peggy DuBois and husband Eddie of Loxley, Alabama; grandchildren, Brittany Webb, Jonathan Boone, Rod Allen Chavez, Alex Chavez, Kevin Tolbert, Easton Avant; great-grandchildren, Madison Boone, Jonah Boone, J.D. Tolbert and a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
