Albany Vs Mart State Championship

Albany vs Mart
The Titans of 2A Division2 met for the second year in a row here at AT&T stadium. Albany and Mart did
not disappoint. With twenty-four state championship appearances between the two of them, nine for
Albany and fifteen for Mart. It was intense from the word go!!!! The Defensive Line of Albany controlled
a very big and athletic Mart Offensive Line. This one was definitely won in the trenches.
Albany for the second year in a row beat the Panthers 28-10. Last year it was Albany’s offense that put
on the show. This year was the defense. Holding the high-powered Mart Panthers to just 10 points. The
Lions carried a 21-3 lead into halftime and held the Panthers to only 37 yards in the third quarter to
pretty much seal the deal.
The Lions were led offensively by their Sr. running back Adam Hill who rushed for 132 yards on 23
attempts, scored his 43 rd , 44 th , 45 th touchdowns of the season for the Lions, who also had 102 yards
passing by Jr. QB Chip Chambers. But the defense was the story, stopping Mart three different times on
fourth down in Lion territory to stop drives.
For head coach Denney Faith it was his second championship in his 44 years at Albany, 39 as the head
coach. This was the sixth time coach Faith led the Lions to the championship game. The Physicality of the
game was impressive to say the least on both sides of the ball.
