Jim Willams, Obit

Jim, age 79, of Atlanta, Texas went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. Jim was born on January 8, 1945 in Houston, Texas to Elmer and Mary Murray Williams. He moved to Atlanta in 1968. He was a man of many names: Big Jim, Big Daddy, Daddy, and Papa.

He worked as a machinist and was known as one of the best in Cass County. He owned several businesses throughout the years including Jim’s Machine and Welding, J&B Trucking, and Atlanta Muffler and Machine Works. He lived a life full of motorcycles, antique cars, camping, and fishing adventures with many close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerald Williams; sister, Judy Helmer; mother-in-law, Merle McAlexander; son-in-law, Jacob Turner; and special nephew, Mike Helmer.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Brenda Williams of Atlanta, Texas; three daughters, Bridgette and Kevin Holland; Kim and Russell McKnight, and Kelli and Chris Bearden; grandchildren, Brittany White, Zechariah Holland, Peyton and Presley Turner, Trenton and Lila McKnight, Kade Brooks, and Trent Bearden; father-in-law, Roy McAlexander; brothers-in-law, Steve Duke, Jackie Duke, and Gary Duke; numerous nieces and nephews; lifelong friend and brother, Eddie Mireles; and his beloved poodle, Max.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, January 20, 2024, in the Hanner Funeral Chapel with Charles Hale officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, January 19, 2024, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hanner Funeral Service.

Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery.
